Beth was born and raised in San Jose, as the oldest of 3 siblings, and developed a passion for music at a very young age. Home-schooled through high school, she was involved in piano lessons, choir and semi-private voice for many years, and later attended San Jose State University, where she received a B.A. in Creative Arts, with an emphasis in Music Education. In early 2004, Beth started teaching at The Music Place as an internship for her senior year in college, and soon began studying the harp under one of the instructors there. She subsequently added harp to her teaching repertoire.
What she loves most about teaching is watching the students grow in enjoyment of what they are studying, especially as they realize how they can use their gifts to bless others.

Until the birth of her first child, Beth also served The Music Place as the Administrator of Professional Development, providing educational resources and support to our well-trained faculty. She incorporates these resources into her teaching and is certified to use the Royal Conservatory materials upon request.
Beth is married and lives in Gilroy with her husband Isaac and her two children. She loves the outdoors and hiking with her husband as well as scuba diving, reading, and being involved in the music ministry at her church.

Teaching Style

Beth's teaching style is relaxed and fun, with an emphasis on creativity and expression, though she strongly encourages the development of proper technique, sight-reading skills, and good practice habits. Although she is comfortable teaching a wide variety of musical styles, her specialties are classical and contemporary chord-based arrangements on both piano and harp.
