YVONNE R.
Yvonne has been with The Music Place since 2005. She is married with a great husband & three terrific kids. She studied piano through the Royal Toronto Conservatory program for 10 years; competed in piano, voice, and choir for 12 years; has taught privately for 5 years; and also has classroom teaching experience in the public schools. Yvonne likes to incorporate humor into every lesson since it helps students get over their nervousness, and adapts her teaching style to fit the unique way each student learns. She believes that a solid background in theory is necessary to help students fully understand what they're playing, so in her lessons, she makes sure her students understand the connections between their theory and their repertoire. Her education is varied, with a B.A. in Geography, a two-year honors certificate in land surveying, and an honors diploma in fashion merchandising. As for hobbies, Yvonne loves to sew, read, curl, do props and costuming for school musicals, and volunteer at her own children's schools.
