Shawn has over 10 years of musical experience, including both instrumental and vocal instruction. In addition to instruction in piano and guitar, he has studied African drums and is currently working towards a minor in at Foothill college in prepration to complete a minor in Music (majoring in History) at San Jose State University.

Volunteering with a teen worship ministry at church has given Shawn the joy of watching very shy young people grow more confident about themselves through team building and opportunities to share their musical talents.

Shawn loves teaching both acoustic and electric guitar at any level, as well as beginning piano or recorder. In April of 2011, Shawn completed the rigorous "Early Music Awareness Certification Program" here at The Music Place, which not only equipped him to teach group EMA classes, but also increased his ability in general as a music educator who freely expresses his energy, creativity and passionate heart for kids.

Shawn teaches guitar, all arts, piano and Early Music Awareness at Sunnyvale Central, Sunnyvale West and Lifechurch on Kooser locations.
