SHANE C.

From the time Shane began private piano lessons in the second grade to the time he received his B.A. in Improvisational Music Studies from San Jose State University, he has always been consistent about music and has always taken music seriously. He was first inspired to learn to play the piano when he heard his grandmother play Viennese waltzes. He has been teaching jazz and classical piano (along with various other genres) since 2003. AT The Music Place , he has been teaching piano, guitar, and beginning vocal instruction since 2005.
As a teacher, Shane is patient and encouraging, and believes that learning should be fun in order to be productive.
He has been the pianist for musicals, choirs, church services, and weddings. He continues to perform at restaurants, with jazz trios, and with Latin jazz/Salsa and Big Band ensembles.
Some of his notable achievements include performing at the world renowned Monterey Jazz Festival and performing with Latin Jazz sensation and recording artist, Pete Escovedo. Shane is originally from Campbell, CA and enjoys spending time with his parents, brother, and cat. He also enjoys composing, arranging, and experimenting with digital audio software.
