MATTHEW W.notes

Matthew is currently enrolled at San Jose State University and is majoring in Business and Music. He has been playing piano for 17 years, and loves learning music and helping others learn the art of music! Matthew has been teaching at The Music Place since 2005, and it brings him joy to know that he can help people find their passion in music, because music is his passion. He believes that music is to be enjoyed and not be burdensome, and that a complete musician is one who has both skill and passion, but passion for music is what will bring the most potential out of a musician. As a teacher, Matthew desires for all of his students to be able to play classical, jazz, latin, pop, etc. He trains students to become full musicians, not just those who are classified as "classical pianists" or "jazz pianists". He has four siblings and his parents reside in Cupertino. When he is not at school or teaching, Matthew spends his time playing basketball and football, working out, playing the piano and guitar, singing in choir, playing chess, and long-boarding.

I tell everyone who will listen about the amazing introduction to music that our daughter is getting with the Music Place. People are always amazed when a 3-year old explains that she played an oboe last week and is going to play a piccolo next week! Most importantly, our daughter can't wait for music class & asks to go every day. -- The Pace Family
