JOE F.
Joe has been enjoying teaching piano and drums lessons at The Music Place since 1996. He studied piano for about eight years and is self-taught on the drums. His piano teacher had a great influence on his musical life and showed him incredible jazz and blues improvisational techniques. These are the styles Joe emphasizes in his teaching as he finds them extremely fun and less strict than classical; however, he does teach classical technique as well. Joe is a very easy-going guy when it comes to working with children and tries to make sure his students have fun with music, because music should be fun! Joe also teaches piano lab at Independence Community Education, and he teaches English full-time at Apollo High School. In addition, he has an M.A. degree in Media Arts. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors (hiking and biking), skiing, indoor and outdoor sports, reading, raquetball, weight lifting, and spending time with friends.
