AYASE S.notes

Ayase ("Aya") began playing piano as a small child and was encouraged by her family to attain proficiency in performance. She continued to study music in college, majoring in Music Therapy at Michigan State University, and later becoming certified as a Neurological Music Therapist (NMT) at Colorado State University. She has many years of experience teaching music to a wide range of age groups, from infants to elementary, to middle schoolers and young adults. She has a huge resource of ideas and creative ways to engage chidlren of all abilities. Aya has a compassionate heart and has been trained to work with children who have special needs, including autism, blindness, and multiple impairments.

Ayase, a native of Japan and bilingual, brings a unique multi-cultural perspective to her teaching. In addition to her piano skills, she enjoys playing guitar and singing! She takes great joy in playing with children as they explore the wonderful world of music, and is the mother of a beautiful little girl named Yuna.

I tell everyone who will listen about the amazing introduction to music that our daughter is getting with the Music Place. People are always amazed when a 3-year old explains that she played an oboe last week and is going to play a piccolo next week! Most importantly, our daughter can't wait for music class & asks to go every day. -- The Pace Family
